About US

Meet the Owners

Jesse and Jessica Calvert, driven by their shared faith and love for good food, made a significant move from the Mississippi Gulf Coast to Maine. Their journey was not only motivated by their passion for serving others, but also by their desire to create a place where they could share their love for southern food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Thus, they opened Southern Spoon restaurant, a delightful establishment that combines comforting southern cuisine with a sense of community.

At Southern Spoon, Jesse and Jessica infuse every dish with the flavors and traditions of the South, showcasing their culinary expertise and love for creating delicious food. From heavenly shrimp n’ grits to mouthwatering chicken and sausage jambalaya, each meal takes guests on a culinary journey down south.

Yet, what truly sets Southern Spoon apart is the Calverts’ commitment to serving the community and providing a comforting atmosphere. With genuine hospitality and love, the Calverts have created a space where people can come together, enjoy a comforting meal, and experience the heartwarming essence of southern hospitality.
